MITCHELL – Alta Slone, 94, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born January 31, 1922, in Brinkley, Kentucky, she was the daughter of William Letcher and Miranda (Nickels) Mullins.  She married Joe Slone June 12, 1938, and he preceded her in death October 31, 2000.

Alta was a homemaker and a member of Woodville Baptist Church.

Her parents; husband; sons, George Slone and Sheldon Slone; and siblings, George Mullins, Chester Mullins, Delza Mullins, Eliza Young, Eva Engle, and Malvery Amburgy, preceded her in death

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, at Woodville Baptist Church with Reverend Glenn Hamer officiating.  Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the church.

    I was her neighbor for a few years...she was a great cook and I loved her homemade biscuits and butter...it was the best....
