MITCHELL – Asa A. Terry, 88, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born January 16, 1927, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Elmer J. and Rosa (Alvis) Terry.  He married Juanita J. Eager March 22, 1945, and she preceded him in death November 21, 2012.

He was a business teacher at Mitchell High School, retired with 29 years of service, and was a member of Indiana State Teachers Association.  Asa graduated from Mitchell High School in 1944 and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University.  He was a life-long member of Spice Valley Baptist Church.  Asa enjoyed cooking and was well known for his pies.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving:            daughter, Charlotte “Sissy” Sproles, Mitchell
                                  son, Timothy J. Terry, Houston, Texas
                                          8 grandchildren
                                        20 great grandchildren

His parents; wife; son, Stephen W. Terry; ten brothers and sisters; and parents-in-law, Ollie and Olive Eager, preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Mitchell Cemetery with Reverend Lewis Williams officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post No. 9107.

    Sissy and Tim I'm so very sorry that your dad passed I thought the world of both your parents .Asa was my favorite teacher an always was a friend too me ;' always called me Susan Kay Brikko'\.     When I was in High School there were many times we would go over to Mr. Terry's house and gather around his piano and sing. He was a great teacher and we all liked him very well.
