ORLEANS – Edith M. Jones, 90, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at her residence.

Born February 6, 1924, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Perry Washington and Pearl Anna (Pitman) Patton. She married John Paul Jones June 9, 1941, and he preceded her in death January 16, 2002.

She had been employed at RCA. Edith was a member of Grace Tabernacle and a former member of the Mitchell and Orleans Church of the Nazarene, and had been a delegate to the Church of the Nazarene Convention. She loved to write poems and short stories and was an avid yard sale shopper.

Her parents; husband; sons, James Leslie Jones and Michael Ray Jones; and sisters, Catherine Esther Estell, Mary Elizabeth Cundiff, Helen Genevieve Brothers, Viola Mae Smith, and Lavena Patton, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Daniel Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
