MITCHELL – Herschel Hale Kern, 81, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Core Nursing and Rehab in Bedford.
Born September 15, 1931, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Hovie Jackson and Lula Mae (Baker) Kern. He married Sherri Gayle Edwards March 2, 2000.
He retired from GM Powertrain and was a graduate of Fayetteville High School.
Herschel was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Old Union Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9107.
