Mary LaVerne and I extend our sencerest condolences to the family of Hollace Chastain. As Orange County Extension Director for Purdue University, I had the privilege of helping Hollace test the scales each year at the Orange County 4-H Fairgrouinds. Hollace was kind, considerate and always a joy to work with. I already miss being with Hollace.

The death of someone close to us leave us shocked with grief. We cannot understand how one minute this person was here and the next they are gone. The truth is that those we love are never truly gone. The body may have run its course, but the soul lives forever..Thinking of your family in prayers!!God Bless!

Hollace was Mike's supervisor and a good friend. Mike enjoyed working with Hollace because of his love of life, positive attitude , encouragement, laughter, and life stories! Hollace was instrumental in getting us started dating and 6 months later getting married. Hollace knew Kelly's dad, they were in the National Guards together. Hollace encouraged Mike to ask Kelly out. We both recall how Hollace would get a smile on his face whenever he would speak about his family. Hollace wanted others to be as happy as he was, having love and family to come home to. Hollace could share a life experience that could make you laugh until you cried! One of the many thing we will always cherish about him. But the thing we will remember the most is the love of his family and life, the laughter and love he shared! Our deepest condolences!

Lorraine & family. So sorry to hear about Hollace. What a guy. Share a little story on how humor was so much apart of his life. Made an evening sales call at your home. Suit n tie, polished shoes. He kindly took me on the grand tour of the hog operation, naturally after our appointment. No why after rather than before the appointment. You are ever been in a pig parlor. Got home, Judy made me hang clothes outside. My thoughts are with you. He will be missed but not forgotten. Larry

I will always treasure all the conversations that I had with Hollace. It doesn't matter what kind of day I had , Hollace could say something that changed that day for the better. I will always remember the multitudes of advice he gave; but most of all, the compassion he showed for others. If there are tractors in heaven, Hollace will be on them:). If the green pastures in heaven have cows; look for Hollace there. Hollace you will be dearly missed! Loraine; may you and your family find peace in knowing that your husband, dad, and grandpa made life better just by being in it. Terri

I'm sorry for your loss, I'll keep you in my prayers. I came through recruit school with Hoss. I was also a truck Sgt with Hoss working out of the Ft. Wayne Post. After recruit school we saw either at meetings usually in Indy. Always love to talk to to see how farming was going in southern Indiana. Good Trooper and good friend we will all miss him. Yours in Christ Ralph Selking

Hollace will always be remembered as a big Teddy Bear, he was one of the most kind and memorable fellow officers from the ISP. We always enjoyed his stories, no matter how much time it took him to tell it. He was very descriptive, never missed a detail. We will miss you. Jeff and Cathy Deckard

Mr. Chastain was our neighbor for the past twelve years, and John and I appreciated his stewardship of his property, always keeping everything mowed and maintained. I enjoyed seeing him ride his big tractor, always waving to me as I walked my dog. I have abiding affection for Greg and Jill, Zach and Sarah, and Mike, Rachelle, Jacob, and Michaela, and enjoyed working with Lorraine at Hatfield Elem. School. Mr. Chastain will certainly be missed in our neighborhood.
