MITCHELL – Joan Lee Earl, 81, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born March 5, 1935, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Larkin Bell and Anna Frances (Guthrie) Long. She married Claude V. Earl March 13, 1953, and he preceded her in death September 18, 2014.

Joan was employed many years in home health care.  She was a member of Smedley Church of Christ, a 1953 graduate of Shawswick High School, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Paul Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in Talbott Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

    We always loved to hear Claude and Joan banter with each other - we all knew they loved each other fiercely, but if you didn't know them, you'd think they were ready to have fight! Lots of fond memories of both of them!!
