MITCHELL – John Dale Jenkins, 73, passed away at 5:37 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Garden Villa in Bedford.

Born March 1, 1940, in Bedford, he was the son of Daniel and Norma (Reynolds) Jenkins.

He retired from General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 440.  John served in the U. S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, Bedford Elks Lodge No. 826, Order of the Eagles in Zephyrhills, Florida, and a lifetime member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club.

His parents and infant sister preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Millard Jones officiating.  Burial will be in Patton Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

    Anah and I were so sorry to hear about John's passing. I was out of town, or I would have come to visitation. We lost our brother Stephen last year. Carol, are you still working on our Jenkins history?

    John and I rode a school bus together. He was always fun and kind. We reconnected years later through golf and the Boat Club he taught me how to "plumb" a putt. Have known Susie from years ago also. My sincere sympathies to all his family including his sisters.
