MITCHELL – John R. Ellis, 86, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 19, 1930, in South Bend, he was the son of John Kern and Anna Elizabeth (Grabner) Ellis. He married Jan Arlene Hoover December 24, 1951, and she preceded him in death October 27, 2006.
John retired from Dana Corporation and was a lifelong farmer and gardener. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post No. 250. John was a member of the Mitchell Lions Club.

His parents; wife; and siblings, Richard Ellis, James Ellis, and Elizabeth Bever, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
