ORLEANS John William “Bill” Suddarth, 86, Orleans, went to meet his Lord on Friday, December 25, 2009, at his residence.

Born September 28, 1923, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Otto and Vera (Dalton) Suddarth. He married Mildred Marie Clipp October 11, 1947, and she preceded him in death April 20, 2005. His second marriage was to Marsha (Root) Horner on November 28, 2009.

He was employed 42 years as a welder at Carpenter Body Works and was a farmer. He was a member of Fishing Creek Chapel. He was a founding member and past director of the Tri-County Antique Tractor Club.

Bill served in the Submarine Division of the Navy during World War II.

His parents; first wife; daughter, Shirley Marie Suddarth; brother, Wilfred Suddarth; and sister, Lucille Hollars, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Yancy Unger officiating. Burial will be in Saltillo Cemetery with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Monday and from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
