MITCHELL Lt. Col. Charles H. “Charlie” Greene, 75, Mitchell, passed away at 9:39 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Bloomington Hospital.

Born September 12, 1934, in Lawrence County, he was the son of John and Helen (Wagner) Green. He married Linda Kiess June 23, 1973.

Charlie had been employed at Roberts Brass for 25 years and was at Stone City Products for 30+ years. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1952 and was a member of the American Red Cross, American Legion Post No. 250, Bedford Boat and Sportsmen’s Club, Spring Mill Lodge Fraternal Order of Police, Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and Murat Shrine.

He was a member of the Army National Guard for 42 years, and a graduate of the Command and General Staff College.

His father; mother, Helen Green Wilfong; and brother, Joseph Greene, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Indiana National Guard Ceremonial Unit, American Legion Post No. 250, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. A fellowship and reception will follow the service at the American Legion Post No. 250.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Masonic Lodge No. 228 will conduct a memorial service at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
