MITCHELL – Ruth Marian Payton, 81, passed away Monday morning, April 18, 2016, at Mitchell Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born January 29, 1935, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth Helen (Gilson) Ramsey. She married Jerry Brotzman in 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1957. Her second marriage was to Morris Payton.

Marian attended Tulip Street Christian Church. She had worked in the cafeteria at Parkview Primary and Bedford Junior High School and was also employed M. Fine & Son.

Surviving: children,
Brian Payton of Bedford,
Alan (Rita) Payton of Bedford,
Rachelle Coleman of Martinsville,
Brent Scott (Lana) Payton of Mitchell; and
16 grandchildren and
20 great grandchildren

Her parents; first husband; and brothers, Kenneth Ramsey and Charles Ramsey, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother David Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
