MITCHELL – Maxine L. Burgess, 92, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born August 25, 1922, in Orange County, she was the daughter of John and Sarah (Wolfe) Denen.  She married Solon M. Burgess November 22, 1940, and he preceded her in death January 10, 1992.

Maxine had been employed at Zeke’s, Jack’s Lounge, Spring Mill Inn, and CJ’s Bakery.  She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 Auxiliary.

Surviving:     daughter, Brenda Reynolds, Mitchell
                                  6 grandchildren
                                  8 great grandchildren

Her parents; husband; daughters, Barbara Burgess and Beverly Kirk; son, David Denen; half brother, William Strange; brothers, Burl Denen, Paul Denen, and Vernon Denen; and sisters, Gladys Sorrells, Marguerite Smithers, and Mildred Tyler, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
