Maxine Beasley was a life-long friend dating back to the mid 1930's on King's Ridge. She was living at the time with her Aunt Ruth Bex. She showed me and my sister, Rose Ella, how to make simple doll clothes for our dolls. She also showed us many ways to use paper and scissors to make paper doll shapes and make ( now we would call it design) clothing for them. As I recall, the making was more fun than the using and the prettiest ones came from wallpaper samples books. Maxine was the one who made sure I knew the school bus system and how to recognize the one that would take me home. My first day of school at Huron, she walked me to my classroom. Through the years, Maxine and I have stayed in touch by correspondence keeping me abreast of Huron news she thought might interest me especially with the church calendars. I shall miss my faithful, thoughtful friend. Nancy King Smith

Kenny and Sunny, I have many fond memories of your mom in Sunday School, Church, school, at the post office, and in the Huron Busy Beavers 4-H Club. She and Mom could certainly find a way to keep all of us out of trouble. I'm sure she and Francille are already cooking something up. (Edna might be on the same committee). My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Beasley family. When you live in Huron, seems everyone knows everybody. Just like one big family, back when we lived there. Maxine let me numerous times follow her to the mail pole, on the railroad so the train could grab the mail bag from the pole and the guy on the train would toss a mail bag out with mail in it. Heck back then it was exciting! Appreciate the memories, Maxine. Cathy Wilcoxen, Kenny Johnson, Charlie Johnson

My deepest sympathy to all of Maxine's family. She sponsored me back in 1976 for the Huron Memorial Day Queen contest. I'll never forget her giving a shy 17 year old a much needed boost of confidence. She was a very sweet lady!
