 ORLEANS – Michael Lewis Brown, 61, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, in Stroud, Oklahoma.

Born January 17, 1952, in Bedford, he was the son of John Lewis and Ruth (Blackburn) Brown.

Mike was a farmer and a 1970 graduate of Mitchell High School.  He attended Georgia Southern University and was a member of the Lion and Lamb Ministries.

He was a U. S. Air Force veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.

                                  Brent (Emily) Brown, Leipsic
                     mother, Ruth Emmert, Bedford
           grandchildren, Alexis Brown

                    brother, Greg Brown, Mitchell

His father, John Lewis Brown, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Pat Sinnott officiating.  Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

    Sending my deepest sympathy to 'Brownie's" family; I went to school with Mike from 1st grade to graduation. You always knew where you stood with him and he had the biggest laugh when he enjoyed your story. He always spoke and talked no matter where he ran into me. Always asked about friends and classmates. The night we heard the sad news, we were with a group from around Law Cnty; we all started reminiscing about the '69-'70 basketball seasons. Lots of stories were told in his memory. Another one from Class of '70 taken too soon; he will be missed!

    I met Mike at Sukkot in Ok. Four years ago Will miss him very much. He spoke about his grandchildren how much he enjoyed them. It will not be the same without Mike.

    Just thinking about all the fun? we had when you farmed with the Bucks in the 70's. The fun? we had in gloom and doom days of Ford/Vistegone/IUE-CWA 907! You were right, NO ONE CARED, NO ONE LISTENED! And YOUR best one, when YOU told the union in a saftey meeting what was gonna happen when a Hi/Lo slams into a $160,000 semi tractor!     I didn't know Mike personally as I was two years behind him in school but I was a huge basketball fan and I never will forget the 1970 season when we won the sectional. I certainly enjoyed watching Mike play ball. Lots of great memories. RIP.

    Mike was part of the Messianic Bedford group that we attend each month. He had a heart as big as he was and was so generous. He loved the Lord and LL Ministries. My life is richer for having known Mike. We will miss him terribly.
