MITCHELL – Ray G. Merry, 92, passed away at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born October 24, 1922, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Benny and Nellie (Hickman) Merry. He married Edna L. Miller June 17, 1944.

Ray retired from Lehigh Cement Company and was a member of the First BaptistChurch.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.

 children, Eve Elaine (Ron) Neal, Anderson
 Alan R. Merry, Dallas, Texas
 son-in-law, Don Fortner, Jasper
 grandchildren, Jason A. Fortner
 Laura N. Bupp

 Lindsay R. Campbell
 12 great grandchildren
sister, Sylvia Eckard, Sparta, Michigan

His parents; daughter, Susan L. Fortner; brothers, Arthur Merry and Jesse Merry; and sister, Louise Hopper preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Reggie Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
