MITCHELL – Ronald David Proffitt, 57, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born June 13, 1955, in Pulaski County, Virginia, he was the son of Harry D. and Betty Lea (Smith) Proffitt.  He married Rebecca “Becky” Mayfield September 28, 1989.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.  Ronald graduated from Dobboyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee, and was an optician’s tech.  He attended Jacob Finger United Methodist Church.

                     children, Angela Proffitt, Mitchell
                                  Jeremy (Rachel) Proffitt, Limestone, Tenneesee 
            grandchildren, Elijiah Proffitt, Limestone, Tenneese 
                                  Nikah Sinclair, Mitchell
                     brother, Robert Quesenberry, Radford, Virginia
                      sisters, Sherry (Bob) Scott, Tennessee
                                  Debbie Miller, Denton, North Carolina

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Eric Kersey officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

    I'm so sorry to hear that Ron passed away. I enjoyed working with him when we were in the Navy. He was a good man. He fought the good fight.

    Dear Becky, Angela, & Family; So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. May God Bless you all with peace and comfort. It is my religious belief that we WILL all know one another again on the other side. I am sure that there is a grand and happy reunion waiting for Ron on the other side of the "veil" that divides heaven & earth, not only with his (our) Savior Jesus Christ, but with family who have gone before him.
