MITCHELL – Ronald David Proffitt, 57, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born June 13, 1955, in Pulaski County, Virginia, he was the son of Harry D. and Betty Lea (Smith) Proffitt. He married Rebecca “Becky” Mayfield September 28, 1989.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 250. Ronald graduated from Dobboyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee, and was an optician’s tech. He attended Jacob Finger United Methodist Church.

His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Eric Kersey officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
