MITCHELL – Sheldon Slone, 67, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born September 18, 1948, in Lackey, Kentucky, he was the son of Joe and Alta (Mullins) Slone. He married Betty Elkins on August 21, 1970, in Bedford, Indiana.
He retired from General Electric and had been previously employed as a police officer for the City of Mitchell. Sheldon enjoyed bluegrass music, fishing, deer hunting, and was a die-hard Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan. He loved to talk and never met a stranger. The most important thing in his life was his family, especially the love of his life, Betty. Sheldon was a devoted son that checked daily on his mother. He was a member of Woodville Baptist Church, and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1966.
Sheldon was a U. S. Navy veteran, and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
