MITCHELL – Thomas “Tom” Jefferson Goen, 73, went home to be with the love of his life at 3:00 p.m. July 23, 2015.

He married Kathleen E. Knowling Wilkerson on July 21, 1964.  They had 44 years together at her passing on August 20, 2007.

Tom was born in Jackson County to Cletus and Dorothy (Hunsucker) Goen.

He graduated from Medora High School in 1959.  He served in the U. S. Army from 1960-1962.  He was a member of the Leesville Masonic Lodge No. 161 F&AM and Order of Eastern Star No. 422.

Poppy retired from Cummins Engine with over 30 years of service.

Surviving: three granddaughters:

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie F. Wilkerson in 2004; parents; two brothers; one sister; and two nephews.

As per his wishes, cremation was chosen with no services.   Burial will be later in Talbott Cemetery next to Mam.  Arrangements were entrusted to Haverly Funeral Chapel. 

Poppy, I love and miss you so much already.  But I know your heart is full again for seeing Mam.  I’m sure there was rejoice at the pearly gates.  Poppy was a wonderful giving man to all.
