MITCHELL Private Second Class Tyler Lee Shafer, 20, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Thursday, November 24, at Scott White Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Born August 15, 1985, in Urbana, Illinois, he was the son of Michael and Tammi (Schoen) Shafer.
Tyler, better known to his friends as Louie, was raised in Mitchell, Indiana, and graduated from Mitchell High School in 2004. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. He was part of the 1st Calvery Division where he held a job of mechanic. Tyler enjoyed his time in the Army and was proud to serve his country.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by a detachment from Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Chastain Funeral Home, Mitchell.
