ORLEANS – William Eldon Slone, 76, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, at his residence.

Born May 13, 1941, in Hindman, Kentucky, he was the son of Joe and Alta (Mullins) Slone. He married Nancy Hayes February 19, 1966.

He retired from Central Foundry with 37 ½ years of service, and was a member of UAW Local 440.  Bill served in the U. S. Navy from 1966-1969, and was a member of American Legion Post No. 250.  He was a member of Woodville Baptist Church.

Bill enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and attending their activities. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and NASCAR races.

His parents; brothers, George Slone and Sheldon Slone; and sister, Ethyl Slone; preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Nelson Lee officiating.  Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and the U. S. Navy Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
