We are so, so sorry. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Pat and Kathy were high school sweethearts, just as we were. God bless your entire family, and God willing, they are both happy and together again.

Pat and I were childhood buddies in the forties and fifties. Our parents were close friends and we lived a block apart. Most of my childhood memories include Pat and his family. I vividly remember the day Pat was struck by a car in front of my grandparents house. When he came home from the hospital I was afraid to see him not knowing what to expect....but I went anyway. He was propped up in a hospital bed in the front room smiling and eager to show me all of his new stitches. Even at that young age Pat had exceptional courage and spirit. He was given much more than his share of adversity and he always bore it well. A very good man

On hot summer days my brother and I would walk up the alley to the bait shop to get a 6.5 ounce bottle of Coke for a dime. Pat always had time for all of us little neighbor kids, and taught most of us how to fish.

I have lost a life long friend ever since the first grade. He taught all his classmates how to have strength and compassion at a very early age. Not only was Pat a survivor of Polio as Bill Burges mentioned above, Pat was also struck by a car while riding his bicycle home from school in the third grade. He survived both and went on to live a very good life. Pat taught us all how to be strong and to be thankful for everything we have. He taught by example to appreciate, to give thanks, and to love life for its every moment. You live in my heart Pat. Rest well my friend. You've earned it.

Pats life influenced my life in understanding compassion and concern for others. I will never forget bringing gifts of candy in Ms Bixlers first grade class while Pat was in the iron lung with polio. I pray for his family.

Pat was a good friend in high school. He was a very kind, generous man. Pat, Steve Tindall and I took a high school graduation trip to FL and Savannah, GA. It was memorable! It ended with Pat getting a bad sunburn that made riding in a car painful. He couldn't even drive his car so I drove it back from Savannah straight through so he could get home and comfortable. We were young then! Good memories.

Pat was a good friend and classmate. I have many fond memories of our times together. I cannot think of a kinder, gentler man.
