MITCHELL – William Robert “Mike” Guthrie, 81, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.

Born April 9, 1931, in Lawrence County, he was the son of William Raymond and Molly (Murphin) Guthrie. He married Mary Lorene Boyles February 21, 1952.

William retired from General Motors and was a 1949 graduate of Medora High School.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

His parents; daughter, Cathy Guthrie; and brother, Joe Guthrie, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Fred Barger officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9107.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday and from noon until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

I love you like crazy papa! And I miss you dearly if not more! One fine day we shall see each other again. I can continue to drink up all your coffee from your cup, and patiently wait sitting at your feet while you peel me an apple and sneak a couple of the peeling slices when your not looking! Mary Lorene, so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Please tell Steve and the rest of the children that I send my thoughts and prayers. My father, Medford Boyles, left this earthly home on Dec. 18, 1986 and I miss him especially at Christmas time. I know that Mike will live in your heart forever too.
