Lake Kiowa, Texas – Brenda Kay Waggoner, 77, formerly of Orleans, Indiana, passed away while tending to her garden on Saturday, June 29, 2019. 

She was born in the family home on November 16, 1941, in Huron, Indiana to her parents, James Frederick and Agnes Irene (Jones) Blevins.  Brenda graduated from Huron High School with the class of 1959.  She married Jack Earl Waggoner on June 30, 1961, who preceded her in death on September 23, 2007.

Brenda worked for many years as a nurse’s aide at Bedford Medical Center and the Mitchell Manor Nursing Home.  While her three boys were in Orleans Elementary School, she worked as a lunch room and playground monitor.  Her memberships include Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Orleans, Indiana, and attended the First Baptist Church of Collinsville, Texas, Phi Beta Psi Sorority, Walk-A-Thon for American Cancer Society, Master Gardeners and Lake Kiowa Women’s Club and Garden Club.

She is survived by three sons,
Bryan Lee Waggoner of Pompano Beach, Florida
Ryan Len Waggoner and his wife, April (Holderman) Waggoner of Lake Kiowa, Texas
Kevin Dee Waggoner and his fiancée, Katia Crabtree of Noblesville, Indiana
grandchildren,
Grant Lee and Lindsey Nicole Waggoner
brother,
James Carl Blevins and his wife, Patricia Ann (Burton) Blevins of Norman, Indiana
five nieces and nephews                        

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Mitchell, Indiana.  Reverend Corey Rash and Reverend Bud Kielhorn will officiate.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Orleans, Indiana.

Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, July 5th from 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

A memorial service will be conducted by Theta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Fund in Brenda’s memory.
