MITCHELL Charles L. Knight, 87, Mitchell, passed away at 3:20 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 15, 1924, in Bedford, he was the son of Lawrence A. and Clara B. (Holmes) Knight. He married Virginia L. “Ginny” (Dougherty) McMinds January 1, 2001.
He was a restaurant manager for 30 years, was in real estate sales for 17 years, and was a member of the Board of Realtors until his retirement. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1942 and was a member of the Mitchell Presbyterian Church.
Charles was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.

His parents; sisters, Pauline D. May and Katherine R. Byers; and step granddaughter, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 Friday, May 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Brown and Lee Hupp officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
