MITCHELL – David Andrew “Andy” Dunwoody, 76, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at his residence.

Born June 3, 1946, in Indianapolis, he was the son of David Dunwoody and Betty Jean (Drew) Poe.  He married Victoria “Vicky” Lynn Conley on January 24, 1969 and she survives.

Andy was a member of the Army National Guard.  He retired from Lehigh Cement Company as a crane operator and was a long-time farmer.  He took pride in his vehicles, enjoyed mowing, and loved being outside.  Andy enjoyed beach vacations and being with his family.  He liked to socialize and talk with people, and was very caring.  Andy was a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Victoria “Vicky” Lynn Dunwoody of Mitchell; daughters, Denise (Jody) Ingram of Mitchell and Stephanie (Curt) Brown of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Hannah (Taylor) Tritle, Reece Ingram, Jaron Roche, Shanna (Brandon) Rash, and Tyler Brown; great-grandchildren, Orlando Tritle and Fiona Rash; and siblings, Perry Poe of Campbellsburg, Becky Holt of Brownsville, Kentucky, Mark Dunwoody of Thorntown, and Mary Eldridge of Indianapolis.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, in the Mitchell Church of Christ Sanctuary with Brother Marc Fields officiating.  Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the Mitchell Church of Christ.

    I am so sorry to hear about Andy. I remember him from growing up on the farm. I won't be able to attend the visitation, but please let Perry know I am thinking of him.

    Andy was such a good man! I learned a lot from him. I used to enjoy talking about cutting firewood. To this day, some of the things he said have stuck with me. I often think of him when I get my chainsaw and bucket ready to cut wood. He was such a kind man. Sorry I will not be able to come by. Please know I am thinking of you and praying for peace and joy in the midst of sorrow.
