MITCHELL – Deanie Joe “Bo” Voorhies, 59, Mitchell, passed away at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at his residence.

Born December 1, 1951, in Lawence County, he was the son of Tirey and Marjorie (Wagoner) Voorhies. He was married to Dorie Newby.

He was a self employed electrician and plumber.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.

“Bo” was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church. He enjoyed drag racing, horse racing, fishing, and bingo.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at American Legion Post No. 250 in Mitchell. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery.
