ORLEANS – Debra “Debi” Jo Flynn, 54, formerly of Mitchell, passed away due to a massive stroke at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Indiana University Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born October 25, 1959, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Joe Flynn and Martha (Green) Collins.

She was employed at C&M Conveyer and was a graduate of Oakland City College. Debra was a member of Oakland City College Alumni, United Steel Workers 7-30, and former member of ABATE.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Flynn; stepfather, Estel Collins; very special grandmother, Helen Wilfong; grandfather, John Green; paternal grandparents, Jess and Gladys Flynn; granddaughter, Kristen Dawn Emmons; nephew, Gregory Flynn, and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Tom Bostic officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

I want to to say how very sorry I am for Debi" children, and all the family and friends she left behind. I grew up in Mitchell and the last time I saw her was after the birth of my son, which was 29 yrs ago. I loved her sense of humor, she always made me laugh, how could anyone forget her if you knew her. My son was premature so I was very nervous when I got home, she would come over and visit with me and help me out. She always said what was on her mind. I will send many prayers to her loved ones and hope you find some comfort in your grief. God Bless all of you.
