I was friends with Donnie Lewis and Nancy many years ago at Mitchell Presbyterian Church. I was privileged to also be neighbors with Mark and Marty and watch them grow up in our neighborhood. I am so sorry for your loss! Don was always such a nice man! You are all in my thoughts and prayers!

Donnie was Bud's fishing buddy and he was a very good friend. Always ready to help me if I needed help taking Bud to the doctor's or helping getting him out of the house into the car. A lot of times he just came in and sat with Bud and kept him company. He loved his Lord, very good Christian man and his family. Prayers for the family..

I was Don’s pastor from 1973-1981 at the Mitchell Presbyterian Church. Don and Nancy had us as guests for dinner and other fun times over the years. Don took me under his wing to show me things I knew nothing about; hunting and cooking mushrooms, coon hunting, going out in the country to find a big Christmas tree for the church Annex. After dinner after church at their home, Don took out his 12 gauge shotgun and walked with me down to a pond on their property. I had never shot a shotgun in my life. I was still dressed in my Sunday suit. He handed me the gun without any instructions, other than to point the gun across the pond and pull the trigger. When I pulled the trigger, the recoil knocked me on my butt in an instant. He told me afterwards that I needed to hold the stock of the gun tight against my shoulder. I have always remembered that lesson. Don was a devout Christian. When he was chosen to be a Deacon, he shared his faith, compassion, and love genuinely with all those who needed encouragement. He brought Stan Edward’s and his family to church and to faith in Christ. Just before I left the church in Mitchell, Don met a couple of severe blows to his faith and life that shook him to the core. I am thankful he was able to move on and find happiness again. He was a genuine friend to all who knew him. He was a great blessing to my life and my early years of ministry.

I "m sorry for your loss. I am a first cousin of Donnie as we called him as children. My dad ( Leonard) was brother to Goldia, Donnie's mother. Also I was good friends to Bonnie Stultz, her husband Burton and their girls ( Donnie's aunt.) I had lost contact of where he was but knew he went by Fred ( his uncle Fred Hopkins) was where he got his name Fred. I remember Marty and Mark when goldie was still living. She sure did love them.
