MITCHELL Fred W. King, 66, Mitchell, passed away at 10:04 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Community Hospital South in Greenwood.

Born March 15, 1942, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Hobart and Edith (Baldwin) King. He married Linda Flinn July 1, 1961.

He was a certified accountant and had been in the profession 47 years. He graduated from Huron High School in 1960 and attended business college.
Fred had been employed at Ford Town in Shoals, Regal Beloit, Ralph Rogers Group, and McCullough Fabricating.

Fred was a member of the Huron Baptist Church, Rurtarian Club, and had been a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 344 in Huron and Troop 480 in Shoals. He had served as president of the Certified Public Accountants Association, and chairman of the Huron Memorial Day Parade. He had also been a member of the South Lawrence Utility Board, and the Huron Alumni Association.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Allender officiating. Burial will be in Port William Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
