There are no words that can describe what this man meant to his family and extened family. It was an honor to call him Dad. He taught many of us what the words love and family were really all about. I pray that my sons will carry on the tradition of the Atkinson hugs, and cherish his memory for many generations to come.

I was sad to read of Gene's passing. I knew Gene during the time that I cleaned his home, for several years. He was a wonderful man that loved his family, and had a great sense of humor. I enjoyed every visit with him, and we shared some great conversations. He will be missed by anyone that knew him, he was special. Charlotte, I know you will miss your Daddy and I am sending prayers, warm thoughts and a hug to you. Treasure your memories, he gave you many.

I am so sorry for your loss. Gene was a fine man and Carpenter's best leader. We solved many bus problems in our Carpenter years. He always treated me with respect and was a true friend. Keith

I am sorry for your loss but as I remarked about my sister's passing: I am not sorry she is gone. Just glad she was here. I agree with Keith, Gene was one of the best at Carpenter's. When I think of my 18 years at Carpenter's I think of Leo Hardman, Paul Bass, Yulee Dalton, Keith, Gene and many others. Gene, along with those mentioned was a man of integrity. A man, father, grandfather to be esxtremely proud of. Bob Plew
