MITCHELL Herman Davis, 94, Mitchell, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.
Born June 18, 1914, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Isom and Lenna Mae (Burton) Davis. He married Violet Mae Grunden December 4, 1941, and she preceded him in death December 29, 1995.
He retired from Carpenter Body Works as an electrician in 1977. He was a 50 year member of the Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Herman owned race tracks in Evansville and Mitchell and was the founder of the Midway Moto Cross track. He was an avid motorcyclist.

His parents and wife preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Roger Davis officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Masonic Memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
