BEDFORD – Harold Bennett, 93, Bedford, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at his residence.

Born April 15, 1913, in Lawrence County, he was ths on of Ebb and Edith (Stewart) Bennett. He married Virginia Rose Faris November 19, 1941.

He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a Prisoner of War in Germany for 11 1/2 months and was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and EAME service medal with two bronze stars. He was a life member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250, Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, and Disabled American Veterans.

He retired from W. F. Meyers Company with 31 years of service, was a member of White River Baptist Church, and a 1931 graduate of Tunnelton High School.

His parents; daughter, Ann; and brothers, Theron in infancy, Herschel, Lemuel, and Burl Bennett preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, at Tunnelton Cemetery with Reverend Hugh Reynolds officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
