MITCHELL Hazel R. Russell, 95, Mitchell, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.

Born July 20, 1915, in Orange County, she was the daughter of Wilford and Ada Cleo (Gilliatt) Parks. She married Oliver Russell May, 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1984.

She was employed 16 years at JayC Food Store. Hazel was a former member of the Spring Mill Homemakers Unit 1 Club, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, and Fleur de Lis. She also had served on the Lawrence County Election Board.

Hazel graduated in 1933 from Mitchell High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

and their son, Asher
Autumn Baughman, Mitchell
Doel (Keri) Baughman, Clarksville, Tennessee
and their children, Brenna and Torin

Mary Frances (Mel) Kornfield, Tamarac, Florida
sister in law,
Kathryn Parks, Mitchell

Her parents; husband; daughter, Nancy Baughman; infant son, Michael Russell; and brothers, Clifford Parks, Lowell Parks, and Robert Parks, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Graham officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
