MITCHELL – James H. “JP” Pemberton, 85, peacefully passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born November 1, 1934, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Jesse Elbert and Lillian Fay (Roberts) Pemberton.  He married Hazel Marie Gilbert September 1, 1953, and she preceded him in death October 17, 2017.

James owned and operated ACE Floor Service.  James was formerly a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church where he had taught Sunday school several years.  He currently was attending the Bride of Christ Fellowship where he enjoyed sharing his love of Christ. James loved playing horseshoes and being with his family.

His parents; wife; sons, Michael Pemberton and Eddie Pemberton; and siblings, Charles Pemberton, Carol Watson, and Beverly Dalton, preceded  him in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, at the Bride of Christ Fellowship with Brother Jerry Allen and Brother Greg Isom officiating.  Burial will be Lawrenceport Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center, and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.
