MITCHELL – Janet Ann Bishop, 75, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with her family by her side.

Born October 20, 1946, in Bonnie, Illinois, she was the daughter of Reverend Chester A. and Bernice N. (Adams) Taylor.  She married Danny W. Bishop December 5, 1997.

Janet went to Anderson College to become a teacher, and was previously employed at the Mitchell Community Library.  She loved her grandkids, great-grandkids, and family gatherings.  Janet enjoyed music, reading, cooking, gardening, and Elvis.  She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. No. 9107 Auxiliary.

                                            Lewis (Heidi) Johnson of Terre Haute

                    step daughter, Kimberly (Nathan) Canada of Wheelersburg, Ohio

                  grandchildren,  Adam (Nick) Vestor-Wright, Amber (Michael) Sciscoe,

                                           Bryan (Jenn) Johnson, Heather Penrose, Latosha Johnson,

                                           Aaron Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Shayla Johnson,

                                           Sabrinalee Johnson, and Paige Penrose

                                             15 great-grandchildren

                             siblings,  Brenda Smith, Akron, Ohio

                                            Joy (Danny) Sloane, Streator, Illinois

                                            Betty (Robert) Schaffers of Remlap, Alabama

                                             Aaron Taylor of Sapulpa, Oklahoma

Her parents and three grandchildren preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Darin Bowlen officiating.  Burial will be in Talbott Cemetery.  Friends and family are invited to gather at the Mitchell Community Center following the service.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
