MITCHELL Jimmie L. Zeeks, 54, Mitchell, passed away at 9:21 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.

Born October 19, 1954, in Salem, he was the son of Jack and Dorothy (Ely) Zeeks, Sr. He married Myra L. Arnold August 4, 1975.

He was employed at Lehigh Cement Company for 32 years and owned and operated Jim’s Satellite TV. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1972.

Jimmie was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250. He was a member of the Marion Township Rural Fire Department for 31 years and also a member of the Indiana Volunteers Firefighters Association.
His grandchildren and the fire department were the loves of his life.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, in the First Church of God with Rev. Paul Flores, Rev. Roland Holtsclaw, and Bro. Jim Russell officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the church.

An IVFA Firefighters memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
