MITCHELL – John “Bud” Tanksley, 71, passed away at 1:48 a.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013, at his residence.
Born February 5, 1941, in Mitchell, he was the son of Roland and Martha (Brewster) Tanksley. He married Lena “Cricket” (Taylor) Grissom August 9, 2002.
He was a machinist and had been employed at United Technologies and Dana Corporation.
Bud was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietman War and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.

His parents; son, Darren William Tanksley; and brothers, Jack Tanksley, David Tanksley, and an infant brother; and two infant sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Richard Grace and Pastor Gary Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
