MITCHELL John I. Shuler, 75, Mitchell, passed away at 8:09 a.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born April 20, 1934, in Calvin, Virginia, he was the son of Willie Stephen and Margaret Louise (Campbell) Shuler. He married Helen Joyce Shelton June 14, 1957.
He was a dairy farmer and enjoyed coon hunting and fishing. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Orleans.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran.

His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 17, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Martindale officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
