MITCHELL – John Paul Roll, 76, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his residence.

Born April 1, 1946, in Washington County, he was the son of Dallas J. and Betty M (Woods) Roll.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War and was part of the USAR Control Group. John was a member of the American Legion Post No. 250.  He was employed by Hail’s Carriage House, CSX Railroad, and Applacres.  John enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. 

Surviving: children, Dallas (Shannon) Roll of Bedford, Josh (Brooke) Roll of Orleans, April Roll of Mitchell, and Sandi England of Mitchell; siblings, Connie Bennett of Mitchell, Jimmy Roll of Bedford, Stevie Roll of Mitchell, and Benny Roll of Texas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His father; mother, Betty M. Phimester; step-father, Larry Phimester; daughter, Lana Mounce; siblings, Kenny Roll, Rick Roll, Carolyn Knoy, and Mary Albertson; infant siblings, Candy Roll, Tammy Roll, and John Roll; and great-grandchild, Legacy Johnson preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12 in the Memorial Chapel at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Lee Hupp officiating.  Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.  Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
