BEDFORD – Joseph Bernard Hill, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

Born May 30, 1936, in North Vernon, he was the son of Lawrence and Monclova (Fields) Hill.  He married Connie Sue Guthrie on November 19, 1982 and she survives.

Joe was a US Navy veteran and retired from M. Fine & Sons Manufacturing Company in 1997 after 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Sue Hill of Bedford; children, Wanda Jo Hill Bridges of Mitchell, William Joseph (Kaitlynn) Hill of Bloomington, and Alicia Hill of Bedford; grandchildren, Sierra, Amanda, Hannah, Wilder, Juniper, Isaiah, Elijah, Karaline, and Lanie; step-grandchildren, Matt, Drew, Ryan, and Kaci; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Tegan, and Bristol; step great-grandchildren, Lillie, Jade, Ember, Silas, Elijah, Andi-Rose, Drake, Talon, and Realie.

His parents and siblings, Richard Hill, James Hill, and Mary Frances Wager, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating.  Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.  Burial will be at Tunnelton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

    A kind neighbor since we moved to Tunnelton he brought our children popsicles a few times when out walking on summer days, and always waved when we would drive past. I went to school with BJ, and we are sorry for your loss.
