MITCHELL – Major John G. Sullivan, 70, Mitchell, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005, at his residence.

Born August 21, 1935, in Lawrence County, he was the son of William and Josie (Melvin) Sullivan. He married LouEtta Milligan June 18, 1955, and she survives.

He and his wife were Salvation Army officers for 40 years. They began in 1960, retired in June, 2000, and returned to the Mitchell-Bedford area. He was an avid garage sale and auction enthusiast. He loved antiques, collectibles, and buying an selling. He had traveled to 32 countries and all 50 state prior to becoming ill two years ago.

His parents and brother, Orville Smith, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Major and Mrs. David Higgins and Major Ray Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
