BEDFORD – Michael Lee Harris, 77, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born May 4, 1942, in Orange County, he was the son of Cecil Ray and Ruth Marie (Jones) Harris.  He married Patricia Applegate June 30, 1990.

Michael worked 36 years at US Gypsum.  He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and graduated from Orleans High School.  Michael was a member of Restoration Church of the Nazarene and a Friend of Bill W. for almost 48 years.  He enjoyed woodworking and watching Westerns.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Harris of Bedford; children, Ivan (Mary Ann) Harris of Springville, Shane (Kris) Harris of Frankfort, Tina (Michael) Burress of Oolitic, Doug Pender of Mitchell, Amy (Speedy) Sowders of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Christina (Shea) Hooten of Bedford; grandchildren, Gabrielle Harris, Michael (Tori) Harris, Evelyn Pender, James Sowders, Jenna Sowders, Makayla Harris, Grace Lambton, Draygen Pender, and Gabriel Pender; great granddaughter, Ivy Staggs; and sister, Marcia (Roy) Sage of Orleans.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 21, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Ken Bushey officiating.  Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

    So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Mike was a friend of my father, Danny Moore, who died 38 years ago at the age of 38 on the same daily that Mike passed, 11/18.
