MITCHELL Noble A. “Toby” Russell, 90, Mitchell, passed away at 3:48 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 16, 1917, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Joseph and Beada C. (Thralls) Russell. He married Cora Marie Wagner October 29, 1938, and she preceded him in death July 14, 2000.

He retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane with 29 years of service, and was a US Army veteran of World War II and a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250. He was a member of the Bride of Christ Fellowship.

His parents; wife, Cora Marie Russell; sons, Donald Joseph, Noble Leroy, and Jeffery Dean Russell; daughters, Alice Marie Collins and Peggy Jane Russell; brothers, Marvin, John, Albert, and Fay Russell; and sisters, Artie VanCleave, Ethel King, Effie Leona Root, and Gladys Morgan, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Allen officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post N0. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
