BLOOMINGTON – Phylis H. Tolbert, 102, formerly of Mitchell, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019, at Stonecroft Health Campus.
Born July 26, 1917, in Plainville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ray and Esther (Barnes) Miles. She married Bernell V. “Tate” Tolbert November 16, 1940, and he preceded her in death December 10, 2000.
Phylis was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Mitchell. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1936.

Her parents; husband; brothers, Donald Miles, Bill Miles, and Harold Miles; and sons-in-law, Larry Bo Allen and Adam Joseph Burja, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Allen Burris officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
