MITCHELL – Rex A. Freeman, 78, Mitchell, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, at Bloomington Hospital.

Born August 10, 1927, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ellis Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Chapman) Freeman. He married Roberta Jean Grimes November 25, 1950, and she survives.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

He graduated from Huron High School in 1945, and retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center–Crane. He was a real estate broker and had delivered school buses for Ann Watterson and Ralph and Martha Hollars. He was a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church, and a former member of the Mitchell-Grissom Kiwanis Club.

His parents, and brothers, Roy and Robert Freeman, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 13, in the Mitchell Wesleyan Church with Reverend Steve Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Chastain Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Friday at the church.
