MITCHELL — Rex Earl Morris, 93,passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.

Born February 19, 1926, in Mitchell, he was the son of Elmer and Ella (Pruett) Morris.  He married Mary Lou Melvin December 15, 1944, and she preceded him in death August 11, 2009.

Rex was co-owner of Crawford-Morris Lumber Company and retired in 1994. He was a 70 year member of Liberty Baptist Church and a 1944 graduate of Mitchell High School.  Rex enjoyed woodworking and took great pride in his lawn.  He and Mary Lou were campers and traveled across the United States.

His parents; wife; and sister, Mary Davis, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Wade Judy and Pastor Brice Menaugh officiating.  Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 12:00 p.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.

    He was the most kind,big hearted, wise , multi talented man I ever met. He loved his family and was proud of them all. The world lost an amazing man and I'm very sorry to all the family. My condolences and prayers for all his family who mourn him♡
