MITCHELLRobert Dale Slaten, 71, Mitchell, passed away at 9:08 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born January 7, 1938, in Orange County, he was the son of Isaac and Iva (Newlin) Slaten. He married Rosemary George April 6, 1955, and she preceded him in death February 8, 1994. His second marriage was to Vera (Kinder) Dorsett October 15, 1994.

He had worked at Mitchell Motor Sales, Chase Chevrolet, and was owner of Slaten’s Body Shop. His most recent employment was the caretaker at Mitchell Cemetery. Bob was a member of Woodville Baptist Church.

His parents; first wife; sisters, Prudie Slaten and Mary (Slaten) Kirby Mink; brothers, Kenny, William Henry, and Dennis Slaten; granddaughter, Rosemary Emily Griffin; and stepson, Dennis Dorsett, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, at Woodville Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Hamer and Bro. Max Timbrook officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Chastain Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the church.
