MITCHELL – Robert Franklin Brown, Sr., 79, Mitchell, passed away at 10:32 p.m. Friday, April 7, at Dunn Memorial Hospital.

Born February 7, 1927, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Henry and Elva (Jaynes) Brown. He married Barbara June Brim.

He was a U. S. Army and Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a life member and past commander of Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, and a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

He was a former truck driver, Mitchell Police Department reserve officer, and had driven the Mitchell-Bedford Bus.

His parents; adopted parents: Arvil and Ella Lewis; brother, Roger Dale Brown; sisters: Magdaline Sallee, Betty Gaddis, Sue Tincher, and Dorothy Caldwell; and grandson, Joshua Miles Johnson, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Brother Josh Brumfield officiating. Entombment will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
