MITCHELL Robert W. Erwin, 88, Mitchell, passed away at 10:22 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008, at Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 29, 1920, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Robert L. and Mary Ellen (Alford) Erwin. He married Elizabeth Irene Williams July 10, 1941.
He was a tool and die maker and retired from W. F. Myers.
Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church.

His parents; sister, Mary Catherine Blunk; and son-in-law, David Curtis, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Hopkins and Rev. Bill Graham officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
