MITCHELL – Roger W. Pierce, 91, of Mitchell and former resident of Washington, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 14, 1914, in Mitchell, he was the son of Frank and Elsie Ethel (Walton) Pierce. He married Eleanor (Hays) Herndon August 1, 1958, and she survives.

He was a retired conductor for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and was a lifetime member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington and was a 1932 graduate of Mitchell High School.

His parents; brother, Marvin Pierce; grandson, Dustin Hill; and granddaughter, Cheryl Pinnick, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Stidd officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
